The course course focuses on the training and fine-tuning of classical dancers. The main subjects are classical ballet; pointe work; boys work; pas de deux; and virtuosity. In all of these subjects, we work towards the enhancement of classical technique, strength, purity of line, co-ordination, quality of movement and artistry. By the end of the second year, we aim for dancers to have reached classical company standard so students prepared and able to audition or atten company classes during the third year.
The duration of the module is one year and inclolves specialist training in classical solos from mainstream reportoire with a view to entering the larger international competitions i.e. Varna, Prix de Lausanne etc. This involves a great deal of study of many different styles and roles from the classics which have to be presented with style and flair at professional level.
