Allegrodance company was created in 1997 and has now become a regular feature of the Spring Dance scene in the North of England and Wales. It is a wonderful opportunity for all Senior programme students perform in newly choreographed works by professional artists including jazz, tap, contemporary, flamenco pieces as well as classical. The Allegrodance Tour is an integral part of the students training, giving as many opportunities as possible for the students to perform. They gain experience of being "on tour" and how productions are put together as well as gaining first hand experience of teaching in the supervised workshops that follow the show. This also gives experience to those who are taking teacher training modules. Each year the production of Allegrodance has varied dance disciplines, each piece is preceded by comprehensive narrative and an explanation to the audience of what they are about to experience. This creates a two-fold learning experience for both students and their audience. "Allegrodance" tours schools, colleges with stages as well as small theatres. The tour usually is scheduled between February and Easter. The Allegrodance company repertoire changes anually to embrace many different dance genres. This years programme was titled "A Journey through Dance" following one dancers experiences in a typical day. Allegrodance continues to search for support and sponsorship throughout the year.
